The day before Leander Lost and Soraia’s wedding, retired journalist André Bento is killed while trying to prevent the kidnapping of his granddaughter. The child is freed, but the kidnappers get away. Slowly but surely, Lost uncovers a Russian spy network right in the middle of Portugal – with fatal consequences.

In a touching ceremony, Leander and Soraia finally say “I do.” Shortly afterwards, the newlyweds leave for their honeymoon. At the same time, Colonel Victor Fyodorov of the Russian foreign intelligence service arrives in Portugal on a high-risk missio. His daughter will only be released from a Siberian prison if the mission succeeds. Meanwhile, Michael Learner, a high-ranking US military officer, also arrives in Faro – with a suitcase he can’t let out of his sight.

Back from their honeymoon, Lost works feverishly to uncover the motives for Bento’s murder. The team soon uncovers a Russian spy network that has been “asleep” until now. It turns out that a “sandman” is gradually deactivating the network. When the investigation leads to Victor Fyodorov, the sandman attempts to assassinate Lost, but hits Soraia instead. The doctors don’t think she has a chance…

Ever since, he has found himself drawn back time and again to the small city of Fuseta on the eastern Algarve, which is where he got the idea for  Lost in Fuseta .
