The Tuesday Ladies

Were they to meet for the first time they would never become friends. But since the five women all ended up at Luc’s restaurant after their French evening class some 15 years ago, a table has always been reserved for them on the first Tuesday of each month. Five women with very different temperaments.

First, there is Caroline, a lawyer, married, mother of two grown-up children. Organised, resilient and argumentative. Then there is Kiki, of a chronically happy disposition, and always falling in love, a professional designer of household items. Eva would be delighted to even have a life of her own. A housewife, mother, and a qualified, albeit non-practising, medical doctor, she is plagued by the terrible “f’s”: forty, four kids and frustration. Estelle, a pharmacist’s wife, is the type of woman who always overpacks her suitcases and then leaves the others to carry them and Judith is a delicate, Lolita-type woman, she is the drama queen of the Tuesday Women, who prefers to talk about her problems rather than solve them.

After Judith’s husband’s death, Judith finds a diary which he kept of his unfinished pilgrimage to Lourdes. So the five friends set out to complete Arne’s journey – oblivious to what awaits them. Step by step, they unravel a secret which will turn their lives upside down.The pilgrimage, intended as a gesture of support for the grieving Judith, soon becomes a journey of discovery for the five women.
