The Red Room (Nyström-Forss 9)

  • A topical thriller about gang crime in Sweden

A missing heart. An unusual stone. A murderer who vanishes into thin air. Two cases that intersect, and two detectives on the edge.

Shortly after midsummer, detective Ingrid Nyström gets drawn into in an obscure murder case in Småland. The dead man, a computer scientist, has had his heart removed and replaced with a rare rock.

As the investigation picks up steam, it becomes apparent that terrible things had already happened to the victim before. To solve the case, Nyström must overcome her misgivings and dive into a dark world that’s foreign to her. At the same time, her colleague Stina Forss is investigating a second mysterious crime, a so-called locked room mystery, in which the murderer disappears without a trace from a hermetically sealed room. As both detectives wrestle with their own demons, the two cases move toward each other with increasing speed, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before more deaths occur.
